Heritage ThemesDEMOGRAPHIC SETTLEMENT & MOBILITY: SettlementsHistoryAlfred Road developed between 1900 and 1920, with development on the southern side of the road, where houses were numbered consecutively on the same side of the street. Alfred Road displays a mix of duplex and single unit dwellings, some constructed of stone (those built c. 1900 – c. 1910) and others of weatherboard (those built c. 1910 – c. 1920). A number of the houses were built as investment (rental) properties. House, 28 Alfred Road was built in the 1920s and is thought to have had only two owners until c.2001. The first owner [name unknown] built the house which was originally 100% clad externally in jarrah weatherboards. In January 1974 Gladys Eileen Meek became the second owner and had the house extensively renovated. Gladys died on the 26 October 2001.
