The place is an example of the former mixed use nature of South Fremantle with industrial buildings, warehouses and factories dispersed throughout the residential buildings. The place demonstrates a symmetrical facade and an altered but recognisable former skillion roof typical of industrial developments within South Fremantle.The place contributes to Fremantle’s identity, representing a period when the area saw increased residential development and conversions of former industrial buildings to residential apartments to accommodate a growing population. It remains significant as part of the city’s evolving heritage and connection to its working-class past.HistoryDUPLEX (FORMER FACTORY), 10A and 10B ADA STREET is a converted 2 storey red brick former factory building. Originally constructed c1950, the factory building had red brick walls and a saw tooth roof. The factory building was converted into 2 residences in 2008.
The place was added to the City of Fremantle Heritage List and Identified as a Contributory Place in the South Fremantle Heritage Area in August 2025.Physical DescriptionDUPLEX (FORMER FACTORY), 10A and 10B ADA STREET is a converted 2 storey red brick former factory building now containing 2 residential units. Each units contains 3 bedrooms and multiple living spaces and courtyards. The perimeter red brick walls, roof structure and sections of the iriginal saw tooth roof have been retained with a new two storey element inserted into the middle section of the original building.
