Lilly was born in Tasmania in 1845 and died in Claremont in 1905. The majority of the houses in the street date from the 1890s and early 1900s. House, 18 Lilly Street was built in 1935 for J A Hicks. The weatherboard and asbestos house was the first structure on the lot. By 1945, Mrs Eudioa Albina Harwood was the owner. In the early 1950s, House, 18 Lilly Street was owned by Lillian Waterhouse. It was bought by William Penbaum in the mid-1950s, and by Raymond and Christine Silke c. 1960. House, 18 Lilly Street has had a number of owners since the late 1970s. Additions to the cost of $10,500 were approved by the Fremantle City Council in 1985. Physical DescriptionHouse, 18 Lilly Street a single storey timber and tile house designed as a simple example of the Inter-War Californian Bungalow style of architecture. The walls are timber framed and clad with painted weatherboard. The front elevation comprises an original verandah space, enclosed with fibrous cement sheeting, and a portico entrance. It has small timber framed windows. The roof is hipped and clad with tiles. There is a red brick chimney to the rear, above a skillion roof rear addition.
