During it’s initial voyage the ship visited Fremantle on a goodwill visit for several days on the way to the French Pacific region. The City of Fremantle has a close relationship with the French with the city friendship/sister city program and the visits by the French navyRelevance to the CityFremantle has an important history with the French through two World Wars and also civic history. This plaque was gifted to the Mayor and the City of Fremantle while on a goodwill visit
