This Aircraft Carrier group has gone through several name changes but Commander Carrier Group Seven was designated on 30th June 1973 and existed up till 2004 when it went through another name change to Carrier Strike Group 7. When Carrier Group Seven visited Fremantle in June 2000, it’s commander was Admiral Gerald L Hoewing. Relevance to the CityFremantle has a long association with the US Naval forces from World War Two to the 2000's
