This plaque has a wooden base with a large brass inscription and a smaller metal badge. The badge features the logo of the Fremantle SLSC which is a sunset over the ocean, surrounding it is an outer blue layer with “FREMANTLE” written at the top and “S. L. S. C.” written at the bottom. It is inside a dark teal circle with small glass ovals spiralling around it. On the outside of the circle is a gold wreath surrounding it. The brass inscription reads:

The back of the plaque features a gold-coloured sticker with blue text from the makers of the plaque. The sticker reads:

There is another white sticker with “CE 087 Fremantle Surf Lifesaving club” written in permanent marker. There are some inserts cut out to hold the plaque. The plaque has a few scratches.DateBetween 1st January 1971 and 31st December 2006ProvenanceThe lineage of the Fremantle Surf Life Saving Club can be traced to the Leighton Surf Life Saving Club which was initially formed in 1932 by twelve members but quickly ceased in 1933 due to the Great Depression. It was reformed in February 1935 and Gordon Dedman served as the inaugural president of the reformed club. In 1958 the Port Surf Life Saving Club was established as a separate entity to the Leighton SLSC but on 25 July 1976 they merged to form the Fremantle SLSC. The inaugural president of the Fremantle SLSC was Ron Murtagh.
The year and date this plaque was gifted is not clear, but the window of time can be narrowed to 35 years due to the manufacturing sticker on the back. Cromwell’s Trophy Centre was purchased in February 2006 and merged with K&S Trophy Supplies and Ynot Promotions to form Trophy Choice on 1 July 2006. The property built at 9 Jarvis Street in O’Connor was built in 1971. With these dates we can place the time the plaque was gifted between 1971-2006. There were six people that served as the mayor of City of
Fremantle over this course of time. They were: Sir Frederick Samson (held office from 1951–1972), William A. McKenzie (held office 1972–1984), John Cattalini (held office 1984–1994), Jenny Archibald (held office 1994–1996), Richard Utting (held office 1997–2001) and Peter Tagliaferri (held office 2001-2009).
