Staff Nurse Annie Marie Waters - Australian Army Nursing Service
Annie Marie Waters was born in Melbourne Victoria in 1894, however the family soon moved across to Western Australia and took up residence at Thompson Road North Fremantle.
Annie was educated at Sacred Heart College Fremantle and after leaving school she took up a career in nursing.
She worked in Fremantle Public Hospital for three years and with the beginning on the Great War, Annie went to work at No.8 Australian General Hospital in South Terrace Fremantle.
However she wanted to serve overseas and on the 11th October 1917 officially enlisted for to serve with the Australian Army Nursing Service overseas.
While she waited for her orders, Annie continued to work at No.8 AGH. Her embarkation orders finally came through and she was given a going away reception.
