DescriptionThe name Richmond applied to that area of East Fremantle situated north of the Canning Highway. The origin of the name is obscure. It could be named after Richmond House (Fremantle Lots 286 and 286 ½) the home of William Temple Graham and the scene of a duel between N.Clark and G.F. Johnson in August 1832. East Fremantle, and the old Fremantle suburbs of Richmond and Plympton wer declared a municipality on 2nd April 1897. Lands and Survey Dept, 1979. The Streets in the area were probably named after the Easton Family.
