Title (extended title only)Dewey: 994.11DescriptionNo record exists as to why this suburb was so named. It can be assumed that White Gums once graced this area though this is unlikely as those trees are found in loamy soil and not in sandy soil so close to the sea. It is probable that the trees were Maiden Gums, (salmon white gums) Eucalyptus lane - poolei. This tree is now rare, yet still exists in small stands in other parts of the Swan Coastal Plain near Kelmscott, Byford and further north near Jurien Bay.
