Reference numberE000076-01DescriptionThe Power Station was officially opened on 27th June 1951 by the Minister for Electricity, the Hon David Brand. Eight boilers were installed to produce steam to drive four generators, each of 25MW capacity. At first the boilers were fuelled by coal but in the mid 1960s they were converted to oil.
