Named afterAdele Euphrasie Barbier, born in Caen, France in 1829, was the foundress of the Congregation of Our Lady of the Missions (the Order that first established a school on the site). She founded the Congregation in Lyon, France in 1861 and was known in religious life as Mother Mary of the heart of Jesus. Adele Euphrasie Barbier died in Surrey, England in 1893.
