CouncilDescriptionFremantle City Council received funding from the Commonwealth Government Department of Housing and Regional Development to conduct an Integrated Local Area Planning (ILAP) Project in the Hilton area, a residential suburb of the City undergoing a major urban redevelopment involving Homeswest. The consultants were appointed and given three broad tasks: 1. to develop a process for community consultation that will identify community needs and options for local area strategy development, 2. to identify the roles and responsibilities of the government, the private sector and the community in Hilton, and to identify a framework for addressing the future provision and management of community facilities in the Hilton area, 3. to identify the views of participants and arrive at a shared vision for the area, that is acknowledged and endorsed by the Hilton community and all the relevant service providers.
