The place contributes to a substantially intact late nineteenth and early twentieth century streetscape close to the centre of Fremantle.ArchaeologyConditionHistoryBurt Street is likely named after Chief Justice Sir Archibald Paull Burt, who came to Fremantle in 1861 from the West Indies. His son, Septimus Burt, became the first Attorney-General under Responsible Government. House, 15 Burt Street was constructed for Eliza Bovell c. 1902. This was demolished shortly afterwards (may have been as a result of a fire). Another cottage was built on the site c.1907 for Eliza Bovell. This property remained in the Bovell family from 1893 for more than 60 years. Physical DescriptionHouse, 15 Burt Street is a single storey house comprising of tuck pointed brick laid in Flemish bond to the facade which has a faceted bay.
