The place contributes to a substantially intact late nineteenth and early twentieth century streetscape close to the centre of Fremantle.ArchaeologyConditionHistoryThe earliest rate book in 1880 indicates a cottage in Queens Square on part of lot 530. It was owned by Joseph Pickering, a retired pensioner guard who is later also listed as a milkman. Pickering had arrived in WA in 1866. He had previously been a dairyman and took this occupation up again when he left the pensioner guards. In 1897, four additional cottages were built on the lot in a terrace: 25, 27, 29 & 31 Parry Street. Physical DescriptionTerrace 25-31 Parry Street is an attached row of four single storey stone residences with brick quoining to corners and window and door openings to the walls.
