The street was largely developed in the 1890s and early 1900s. This park was vested in the City of Fremantle in 1931. A children’s playground is shown on a Metropolitan Sewerage plan dated 1955. It was located at the corner of King William Street and Wellington Street (Marine Terrace). In the 1990s, community action saw the small park landscaped and marked with decorative entry gates made by the local community. This place was included in the list of heritage places in the City of Fremantle identified by the Fremantle Society (1979/80) - BROWN -significant for making a positive contribution to the built environment of Fremantle. It was also included in Michal Bosworth's 'Fremantle's Landscape: A Study for the Municipal Inventory', prepared for the City of Fremantle, April 2001.
