Typical single storey stone residence dating from the late nineteenth to early twentieth century. Historically significant as a representation of working people’s living conditions in the Fremantle area. Has undergone significant alterations but original form remains intact.ArchaeologyConditionHistoryRate books list an allotment (29 of 31) in 1880 and a limestone cottage in 1881. In 1887 a cottage is listed for Lot 31 and a cottage is also listed for Lot 32. In 1889 only one cottage is listed. The 1895 listing records a cottage and a 5 acre clock. In 1896 the listing is of a cottage with 5 rooms at Lot S31. In 1900 two cottages are recorded. One cottage is on Lot 2 of 3 and 2B South Street. Another cottage is listed on Lot 1 and 4 of 4 and 5B. Hand written notes on file say that in 1901, 31 and 32 were subdivided. The 1904/ 05 listing records a cottage on Lot 31 and in 1905/06 this is recorded as sub Lot 31. In 1977 a bedroom was added. On file at the Local History Collection: A copy of an Auction notice for 7th March 1987, with a house floor plan on the reverse. Physical DescriptionSingle storey stone and aluminum tile (probably not original) hipped and gabled roof and brick chimney, residence.
