Furniture by Lockes helped to shape the lives and habits of many thousands of West Australians. The story of Charles Locke and the business he founded with his brother Herbert, in Fremantle in 1893, is in some ways typical of many young men and women who made their way out to Australia at the end of the 19th century in search of a better life in a new colony. This presentation by Leigh Robinson is about the story of their journey and of the Lockes business that they established together.Imprint2026Collationmp3Date Published2026Audio FormatDigitalDigital ItemYes
