AuthorLawrence, Alfred Frederick 1897 - 1989; Howroyd, MargaretDescription Alfred Frederick Lawrence was born in 1897, went to Albany c 1912 and from there enlisted in the Army and then to World War 1. Al;fred also fought in the second World War. He received many medals for his service in the field. In 1934 he joined the Fremantle Fire Brigade as a professional fireman. He describes many of the vehicles used and describes the fire he witnessed at Kitchener's Soap Factory, North Fremantle. He lived in the warder's cottages in Henderson Street.
